Portland Youth Football League News!!

Letter from the President!

October 29, 2007

Dear Portland Youth Players and Families,

What a great way to wrap up the 2007 Football season!  The Steelers won the State Championship at Fitzpatrick Stadium on Sunday October 28th, capping off a tremendous season.  It was great to see.  It was also great to see the President of Maine Youth Football, John Fitzsimmons introduce our former President, Jim Hartman, to present the much coveted Hartman Trophy to The Steelers.  Congratulations to the Steelers!

While Championships are exciting to win, PYFL is about a lot more than Championships.  On Saturday October 27th, Portland hosted the First Annual Pee Wee Football Fest. The Pee Wee teams are comprised of second and third grade players.  These young players exhibited true sportsmanship throughout the day. This was a round robin type event with teams participating from Falmouth, Yarmouth, Cumberland, South Portland, Portland and Rockland.  There were over 100 kids playing on a rainy day in October!  It was quite an event!  The young football players seemed to have a great time, and the atmosphere was fantastic.  I am sure you would agree if had the chance to swing by and catch any of the action.

In 2007 we covered a lot of ground.  We held our Summer Camp through the Summer Champs program, we held our annual golf tournament, we hosted the Fourth Annual Jamboree at Fitzpatrick as well as the Varsity Harvest Bowl and the State Championships!!!  That is a lot of planning, and a lot of work.  My sincere thanks goes out to all of you that helped make this season a success.

Portland Youth Football is committed to being the League of choice for all kids interested in playing football.  I believe that the experience that your child will have is the best in all of Youth Sports.  PYFL is 100% committed to making your experience in our league a positive one.  We are also committed to making football available to all members of our community.  If a youngster is willing to commit to playing in our league, we will commit to making sure it happens!!!

In 2008, I am confident that more communities will join Maine Youth Football.  In Portland we are always looking for volunteers to help with our league as well as new players to join in on the experience.  Please spread the word amongst your friends, colleagues and neighbors.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  My email address is tzukowski@hotmail.com  and my home phone number is 207-761-8049.  It has been an honor to serve as President of this fine organization, and I look forward to a great off-season and a fantastic 2008!!!!

Sincerely,

Todd Zukowski
